MILAN, Italy – Coming off a strong overall performance that showcased their scoring and defensive ability, the LSU Lady Tigers play the third and final game of their exhibition tour of Italy Saturday against what may be the strongest opposition of the tour, the FSG Academy of Holland.
The game is set for a 6:30 p.m. tip local time (11:30 a.m. BR time). The team will fly back to Baton Rouge on Sunday.
The Royal Eagles women’s basketball team of FSG Academy is currently playing in the first Dutch Basketball League and are the reigning U20 Dutch champions.
Thursday, the Lady Tigers romped over the Interclub Muggia team in Trieste by a score of 87-32. LSU had 25 steals and for the second straight game was able to build a big 30-point margin at the half.
In two games, Ayana Mitchell has scored 36 points and has 26 rebounds, highlighted by the 21 point-17 rebound effort on Thursday. Five different players have scored in double figures over the course of the two games. Chloe Jackson had 17 points in the 76-40 win over the Italian All-Star team in a game played last Sunday in Rome.
The Lady Tigers and their official travel party left their headquarters in Trieste on Friday morning and bussed to Verona where the team had lunch and had time to explore the city before driving to Milan where they will spend Saturday and Sunday. A sightseeing tour of Lake Como is on the agenda early Saturday morning prior to game preps for the Academy team.
