Men's Tennis Welcomes Stewart Block
Communications Student Assistant
BATON ROUGE—LSU men’s tennis co-head coaches Andy Brandi and Chris Brandi announced Monday Stewart Block will be joining the Tigers in August.
A 6-4 all-court player with a huge serve and forehand, Block comes to LSU as one of the top players in Florida where he was coached by Heath Turpin.
“We are thrilled that Stewart will be joining us in August,” co-head coach Chris Brandi said. “He is a great student, loves the game of tennis and has had fantastic junior coaches. He has steadily improved his game over the past few years, and we can’t wait to start working with him.”
A Canada native, Block has shown that he is very athletic and has a great upside after competing in the National Clay Courts and Kalamazoo Hard Court Championships.
Block graduated from Laurel Springs High School with honors in May 2017 and is expected to compete as a freshman during the 2017-18 season.
“I am very excited to join the men’s tennis program at LSU and cannot wait to work with the coaching staff,” Block said. “I’ve been wanting to go to LSU since I was in eighth grade, and I cannot wait to wear those letters across my chest and represent the purple and gold.”
