BATON ROUGE- LSU beach volleyball freshman Claire Coppola earned more postseason recognition after being selected as a 2017 DiG Magazine Beach Volleyball All-American on Tuesday.

This marks the second time Coppola has received All-America recognition after being named to the second team squad earlier in the summer.

“Clearly, this summer has helped show that Claire is one of the best college players in the country,” said head coach Russell Brock.

“We are proud of the honors she is receiving, but we’re even more impressed with how much she continues to work and improve her game. She is just starting to scratch the surface of her potential.”

In just her first season, Coppola appeared in all 35 matches alongside freshman partner Kristen Nuss, compiling a team-high 27-7 record on the season with 18 wins coming at the one.

Overall, Coppola notched nine wins against ranked opponents, including seven victories against top-10 competition. A native of Scottsdale, Arizona, Coppola also helped garner one of the three points in LSU's first-ever win at the NCAA Championships over Long Beach State.

Coppola was selected to compete at the USA Volleyball Collegiate Beach Pairs Championships in Hermosa Beach, California, where she advanced to the round of 16 alongside Nuss, knocking off Florida State's Vanessa Freire and Victoria Paranagua, as well as South Carolina's Macie Tendrich and Katie Zimmerman.

Coppola was one of just 10 players to earn Coastal Collegiate Sports Association All-Conference accolades and also picked up CCSA All-Freshman honors for her stellar play this season.
