BATON ROUGE --- The No. 27 LSU women’s tennis team will compete to continue its recent hot stretch in SEC play when No. 5 Auburn travels to the LSU Tennis Complex Sunday at 11 a.m.
Fans in attendance at Sunday’s match will receive free donuts while supplies last.
Coming off yet another exhilarating 4-3 win over Alabama on Friday, LSU (10-4; 3-2 SEC) will host the Auburn Tigers (18-3; 2-2 SEC) for the second of a three-match home stand.
“Auburn is a very solid team,” co-head coach Julia Sell said. “They’re just very even and very consistent from one to six. For us, it’s going to be all about raising our level from one match to the next and getting better.”
LSU owns a 27-13 advantage all-time against Auburn, including ten wins in the past 14 seasons.
Sophomore Jessica Golovin picked up another win on court four against Alabama, earning her team-leading 11th singles victory this dual season.
Junior Ryann Foster and freshman Jade Lewis each earned their tenth singles wins against the Crimson Tide, as Foster improved to 6-2 on court three and Lewis improved to 9-1 on court one, picking up her fifth win over a ranked opponent in the process.
Freshman Becca Weissmann has started to settle into a solid groove holding down court five for the Tigers, claiming a quick win in straight sets against Alabama following her come-from-behind, match-clinching performance at Missouri.
The battle for the doubles point will be crucial for LSU, as Auburn boasts three doubles pairings ranked in the top-50 in addition to their three ranked singles players.
The Auburn Tigers are coached by Lauren Spencer in her sixth season with the team.
