BATON ROUGE – LSU volleyball junior Cheyenne Wood was recently offered and accepted an internship for the summer of 2017 at Nike.

As a member of the prestigious Nike Intern Class of 2017, Wood will work in Portland, Oregon as an event planner and conference service specialist intern. Wood joins alumna Helen Boyle who also interned in the global marketing department at Nike.

“I am so excited to spend the summer in Oregon and join the Nike family,” Wood said. “This is an incredible opportunity to learn and work for such a prestigious company.”

“We are excited and proud of Cheyenne as she continues to work toward a successful career in promotions and marketing,” head coach Fran Flory said. “She will continue the legacy of LSU volleyball student—athletes who have earned the honor of interning with a tremendous company like Nike. Cheyenne is very deserving of this opportunity and I know she will make the most of it.”

Wood is one of five seniors set to lead the squad in 2017. The defensive specialist played in all 29 matches her junior season and served as the squad’s libero in 16 matches. Wood finished first on the team in digs with 369 at 3.62 per set.

The Angier, North Carolina native and the rest of the Tigers continue to work toward 2017 with spring practice under the direction of Flory, assistant coach Ethan Pheister and newly added assistant coach Sarah Rumely.
