MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Due to inclement weather expected on the course throughout the day, Sunday’s final round at the 16th-annual General Hackler Championship has been called off before the start of play as the No. 5-ranked LSU Tigers officially finish in third place with their 36-hole score of 3-under par 573.

All results from Friday’s tournament opener are final as Wake Forest claims a 10-shot victory over runner-up Kent State with a winning score of 15-under par 561. The Tigers finish 12 shots back in third.

Senior Brandon Pierce opened his spring season with a top-five finish while tying for fifth place at 2-under par 142 in his 2017 debut. Sophomore Sam Burns continued his streak with a ninth-straight top-10 finish with a score of even-par 144 to tie senior teammate Eric Ricard for ninth place. Freshman Philip Barbaree tied for 15th place at 1-over 145, while sophomore Luis Gagne tied for 19th place at 2-over 146.

Despite seeing Sunday’s final round at the General Hackler Championship washed out by rain, the Tigers return to action next weekend with a trip to Palm City, Florida, to compete for the Valspar Collegiate Invitational being held March 19-21 at Floridian Golf Club. They will wrap up their regular season April 1-2 at the Aggie Invitational being held at Traditions Golf Club in Bryan, Texas.
