BATON ROUGE – LSU starts on-field preparations for the 2017 season on Saturday as the Tigers open their first spring practice under head coach Ed Orgeron.

Saturday’s practice will be the first of 15 workouts for the Tigers between March 11 and April 22, when LSU wraps up the spring with the National L Club Spring Game at 7 p.m. in Tiger Stadium.

Spring Roster

Saturday’s workout will have the Tigers practicing in only helmets and will consist of both individual drills as well as several periods dedicated to offense and defensive team work. LSU will also spend time working on special teams tomorrow.

Among the names practicing for the first time as LSU Tigers on Saturday will be six early enrollees in quarterback Lowell Narcisse, safety Jacoby Stevens, safety Grant Delpit, defensive end Justin Thomas, wide receiver Mannie Netherly and offensive lineman Austin Deculus.

The Tigers will also welcome highly-touted defender Andre Anthony to the practice field after he sat out last season.

Overall, LSU returns 12 position starters (7 offense, 5 defense) along with two specialists in punter Josh Growden and long snapper Blake Ferguson from last year’s 8-4 team that captured the Citrus Bowl with a 29-9 victory over Louisville. The Tigers also get back the services of senior defensive end Christian LaCouture, who missed all of 2016 with an injury.

Next week, the Tigers will practice three times – Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
