SAN ANTONIO – The LSU Lady Tigers put the wraps on the fall campaign with their best round of the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational Tuesday, posting a 2-over round of 290, counting two even par scores and two +1 scores.

In the shotgun format with LSU starting near the close of the final nine holes on the Briggs Ranch course, LSU’s five players posted 12 birdies on the day with Kathleen Gallagher following up an under par round with a strong final round, with birdies on three of the final six holes on the front nine to post even par.

Sydney Cavin also had three birdies in her round to post her best round of the event at even par 72. Caroline Nistrup had a two birdie round in her +1 73 and Lana Hodge had three birdies to get in with a very nice 73. Claudia De Antonio had a fine score as well at +2 74.

Gallagher, who played the final 45 holes of the 54-hole tournament in even par finished the even T31 at 4-over 220 while Nistrup and De Antonio posted 222, +6, and T37 finishes.

LSU’s 290 brought them home at 27-over par 891 tying for 11th place with Houston. Arkansas win the event at 16-under par 848, five shots clear of Texas A&M at -11 853. Tennessee was third at 3-under 861.

Alana Uriell of Arkansas led a one-two finish for the Razorbacks as she finished at 2-under 204, while Kaylee Benton was second at 10-under par 206.

The spring women’s golf season, which this year will feature five tournaments, begins in the comfortable climate of Puerto Rico for the Lady Puerto Rico Classic Feb. 12-14. The schedule is highlighted by the annual home event at the Baton Rouge University Club, the LSU Tiger Golf Classic and that is scheduled for March 24-26.
