Lady Tiger Golfers Conclude Play in Lady Tar Heel

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – LSU sophomore golfer Kathleen Gallagher birdied three of her final six holes to post a 1-over 73 Sunday to follow a 74 on Saturday to lead the Lady Tigers at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational which concluded at the UNC Finley Golf Course.

LSU as a team finished 17th after a final round of 22-over 310 to finish the 54 hole event at 56-over par 920. Wake Forest won the team title by five shots at 10-under par 854. Alabama finished second at -5 and Arkansas was third one more shot back at -4 860.

Gallagher led the Lady Tigers with a 54-hole total of 8-over par 224 (77-74-73) to finish in a group at T45. Wake Forest’s Jennifer Kupcho had rounds of 67-68-66 for a 15-under 201 to win the individual title.

LSU also counted a round of 77 from Lana Hodge, 79 from Claudia De Antonio and 81 from Sydney Cavin. Hodge in her first college start of the year posted three rounds in the 70s, including a 73 in the opening round on Friday.

The Lady Tigers played without senior All-America Caroline Nistrup, who was unable to play after getting sick prior to the start of the tournament.

LSU will have a short turnaround before the final tournament of the fall portion of the season starting next Sunday (Oct. 23) in San Antonio.
