LEXINGTON, Ky. – Just a handful of days into preseason practice, the LSU volleyball program learned it was receiving votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 Preseason Poll the organization announced Monday afternoon.

Collecting 52 total points, LSU is one of four Southeastern Conference schools to make the cut for the initial list, noted along with No. 10 Florida, No. 15 Missouri and No. 18 Kentucky. On the season, LSU will have nine matches against teams ranked or receiving votes according to this poll, jumping out of the gate with 14th-ranked San Diego and eighth-ranked Purdue in the Mortar Board Premier August 29-30 in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Two weeks later, the Tigers will head to Tallahassee for the Four Points by Sheraton Seminole Invitational, where a marquee matchup with FSU is set for 6 p.m. CT, who is ranked 13th by the AVCA. The final tournament will have LSU squaring off with UTSA once in the UTSA Classic Sept. 19-20 in San Antonio, as the Roadrunners were the last team to receive votes.

The matchup against the Wildcats will be the first SEC volleyball match televised on ESPNU at 8 p.m. at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Sept. 24, while the match against the Gators in Baton Rouge on Oct. 3 is set for the brand-new SEC Network at 6 p.m. LSU has two dates with Missouri set for this season, as the Tigers will take on the defending regular season champs on the SEC Network Oct. 17 and SEC Network Plus Nov. 21.

LSU has earned 190 victories sparked by five 20-win seasons to go along with seven SEC Western Division titles since 2005. The Tigers also are one of 29 programs to appear in at least seven NCAA Tournaments during the past nine seasons.
