BATON ROUGE -- A total of 33 members from the LSU swimming and diving, men’s basketball and football programs recently participated in the fifth-annual LSU Spring Greening Day to accentuate the campus’ beauty while also emphasizing the importance of sustainability.
The student-athletes worked alongside staff and tutors from the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student Athletes. Their job was to lay down soil and plant indigo around the recently installed Dalrymple circle.
“With our motto being “Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve” at the Academic Center for Student-Athletes, we believe that it’s important to get out and practice what we are preaching to our student-athletes,” said Jade Bryan, Associate Director of the Shaquille O’Neal Life Skills Program. “This was a very rewarding event for our staff members to be alongside some of our student-athletes working together to beautify our campus. Through Geaux Givers initiatives like these within the Shaquille O’Neal Life Skills Program, student-athletes are given the opportunity to contribute to the community and become better-rounded during their time at LSU, so that they can prepare to smoothly transition into the real world,”
“It was a very rewarding experience being able to see the improvement that our group made to the campus we call home,” LSU freshman swimmer Logan Rysemus said. “It’s going to be cool to drive by the area and see the major improvements we made as a student body.”
