SIESTA KEY, Fla. – The LSU sand volleyball team (5-8) will compete in the Fiesta on Siesta Key tournament Saturday and Sunday at Siesta Key Public Beach.

The weekend’s competition features thirty teams from across the country, and LSU’s top-seeded pair of Meghan Mannari and Katie Lindelow as well as the second-ranked pairing of Kaitlin Hatcher and Helen Boyle will compete.

“This weekend is going to be a tough test,” associate head coach Russell Brock said. “Every single match is going to be against top two-seeded teams from good programs. Physically, it will be challenging to play so many matches. It will be a mental test as well, knowing that every match will require full attention and concentration.”

The Sand Varsity Schools Pair Competition Pool will kick off at 7:30 a.m. CT between the top two seeds from 10 varsity schools and four at-large teams, and LSU’s duos will compete in pools BBB and HHH.

Hatcher and Boyle will face No. 6 Florida International’s Marina Boulanger and Jessica Gehrke, College of Charleston’s Melissa Morello and Cara Howley and fourth-ranked Florida State’s Sarah Wickstrom and Fatmna Yildirim in the BBB pool. Mannari and Lindelow will take on Tulane’s Tea Juric and Jackie Wegner, Florida State’s Stephanie Pelliterri and Kristina Pelliterri and Jacksonville’s Kendall Courtney and Niatha Cullen in the HHH pool.

The Fiesta Team Cup Competition Pool will begin at approximately 9 a.m. CT, and teams will face off to one set played to 25 points.

Single-elimination playoff seeding for both aspects of the day’s competition will be determined by win/loss record, head-to-head and points percentage (points scored/points allowed). If still tied, a playoff match to seven points will commence. Competition in the Sand Varsity Schools Pair Competition will continue Sunday at 7:30 a.m. CT if not completed Saturday.

“I'm looking forward to seeing how our teams respond,” Brock said. “There is no doubt that we belong in this type of event. We just need to play like we believe that.”
