BATON ROUGE – The LSU women’s golf team, preparing for its final tournament of the regular season this weekend, moved up two spots in the latest Golf World/WGCA Division I College Coaches’ Poll of the spring.

The Tigers moved from 20th to 18th in the latest poll that will appear in the April 7 issue of Golf World. LSU starts play on Friday in the DAC/SMU Invitational at the Dallas Athletic Club. LSU players have been in playoffs for the individual title in each of the last two events.

After tying a school record for the most victories in a single season, USC retained the top spot in the latest Golf World/WGCA women’s Division I college coaches’ poll. The Trojans earned 16 of the 17 available first-place votes. It was the seventh win of the season.

Pac-12 foe UCLA remained No. 2 in the poll, claiming the remaining first-place vote, while Duke and Arizona State also held on to the Nos. 3 and 4 spots. Arkansas, winner of the last two LSU Tiger Golf Classics, rounds out the top five.

Two new schools joined the top 10: No. 7 Arizona and No. 10 South Carolina. This is the first time South Carolina has been ranked in the top 10 since Golf World resumed the poll in 2001-02.

One new school entered the top 25: No. 23 Kentucky.
