Five Named Gymnastics Coaches' All-Americans
BATON ROUGE – LSU gymnasts Rheagan Courville, Kaleigh Dickson, Lloimincia Hall, Jessie Jordan and Sarie Morrison earned Regular Season All-America honors, the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) announced Tuesday.
LSU is tied for the national lead, along with Oklahoma, Utah and UCLA, with five gymnasts who earned regular season All-America selections.
LSU also has 12 total regular season All-America honors, a number that is tied with Florida for the most in the nation.
This marked the second season in which gymnasts could earn regular season All-America honors. All-Americans were determined by a gymnast’s regional qualifying score (RQS) in the final GymInfo rankings released on Monday.
Gymnasts ranked 1-8 nationally on each event and the all-around received first-team status, and the gymnasts ranked 9-16 were honored as second-team selections.
Courville is one of only two gymnasts in the nation to earn All-America honors in all four events and the all-around. The other is Florida’s Bridget Sloan.
Courville was named a first-team regular season All-American on vault and the all-around, and she is a second-team All-American on bars, beam and floor. Courville ranks No. 2 nationally in the all-around and No. 7 on vault. She is ninth on beam, 11th on floor and 13th on bars.
Courville is now an eight-time regular season All-American after earning honors on vault, beam and the all-around last season as a sophomore.
Morrison is a first-team selection on bars and a second-teamer on vault. Morrison is No. 4 on bars and No. 11 on vault in the rankings. She is now a three-time regular season All-American because she was a first-teamer on bars last season.
Hall is a two-time first-team regular season All-American on floor after she finished the regular season ranked third in the event.
These are the first regular season honors for Dickson and Jordan. Dickson is a second-team All-American in the all-around after finishing No. 15 in the rankings.
Jordan earned a first-team honor on beam as the sixth-ranked gymnast in the event, and she received second-team honors on vault and the all-around. She is ranked ninth in the all-around and 16th on vault.
LSU has produced 17 regular season All-America honors in the two seasons the distinction has been awarded.
Gymnasts still have a chance to earn All-America honors during the semifinal round of the NCAA Championships on April 18 in Birmingham, Ala.
Overall, LSU now has 138 total All-America honors in program history.
No. 3 LSU (15-5) is back in action when the Tigers host the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional in the Maravich Center at 4 p.m. CT on April 5. The meet serves as a first-round site for the NCAA postseason and features LSU, No. 10 Stanford, No. 13 Auburn, Arizona, Kent State and Iowa State.
