Student-Athletes Participate in Dance Marathon
BATON ROUGE – Student-athletes from the LSU women’s basketball and volleyball teams showed their support at LSU’s first annual Dance Marathon, a 26.2 hour event in which students are committed to raising money and awareness for the children at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital by standing, dancing and celebrating for the entire event.
Dance Marathon is a nation-wide, student-run philanthropy that raises money for Children’s Miracle Network to help children and their families cope with life-threatening illnesses and diseases. The inaugural event at LSU raised $105,577.88 which set a national record for any school in its first year.
“We were so glad to be a part of the first ever dance marathon at LSU,” volleyball’s Katie Lindelow said. “When they announced we broke the record at the end, it was all worth it. Meeting some of the families and children from the hospital really kept us motivated throughout the 26.2 hours because our team realized that it was all for them.”
