Andrews on All-SEC Softball Preseason Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – LSU junior outfielder A.J. Andrews was one of 15 players to secure All-SEC Preseason-Team honors Monday as selected by the league’s coaches.

Last week, Andrews was one of 50 players to be named to the 2014 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Top 50 Watch List. She was the 15th program in program history to collect NFCA All-America status last season.

Andrews registered a team-leading .359 batting average to go along with two home runs and 32 RBIs. Her 71 hits checked in at ninth place on the SEC leaderboard, while the .359 hitting clip was a 144 point improvement from 2012.

Andrews racked up a team-leading 19 multi-hit games and hit safely in 45 of 58 games which included 17 of her 23 SEC outings. Andrews crossed the plate a team-best 47 times, LSU produced a 27-3 record when she scored.

LSU is three days away from 2014 opening night where the Tigers will play host to No. 10 Texas at 6 p.m. CT. LSU welcomes Central Arkansas, Minnesota, Murray State, Oklahoma State and SIU-Edwardsville for the Tiger Classic. The three-day tournament runs from Feb. 7-9.

Season tickets can be purchased for $75 and single-game tickets are now on-sale at http://www.lsutix.net/ for a banner home schedule that features 15 games versus 2013 NCAA Tournament teams. LSU squares off with two more 2013 Women’s College World Series opponents in Florida (March 14-16) and national runner-up Tennessee (April 4-6) in addition to NCAA Tournament participants Georgia (April 11-13) and Mississippi State (May 2-4) for three-game SEC home series.
