Nominee for SEC Player & Freshman of the Week

Raigyne Moncrief, G, 5-10, Fr., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Moncrief pumped in 18.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. She set a SEC season’s best with 17 points against Mississippi State only to eclipse the mark with a 19-point performance at No. 13 Kentucky. She buried 48.1 percent of her shots and scored 25 of her 36 points in the second half. LSU erased a five-point halftime hole versus Mississippi State and nearly wiped away a 15-point deficit over the final 12 minutes at Kentucky. The freshman guard nearly amassed her first career double-double and equaled a career-high with nine rebounds during the Kentucky game.

Notes on the Tigers
LSU picked up a comeback victory over Mississippi State before the Lady Tigers dropped a road decision versus No. 13 Kentucky. LSU has compiled a 17-5 record and a 6-3 mark in SEC play. Three of the team’s five losses have come against Top 25 opponents. The Lady Tigers currently sit in a three-way tie with Florida and Vanderbilt for fourth place in the SEC standings. Raigyne Moncrief led the way with 18.0 points and connected on 48.1 percent of her shots. She set new SEC season-highs with 17 points against Mississippi State followed by a 19-point effort at Kentucky. The freshman guard racked up 25 of her 36 points during the second half. She also hauled in 6.0 rebounds per game and pulled down a career-high tying nine rebounds during the Kentucky game. Shanece McKinney tacked on a balanced 13.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game. She amassed a career-best 19 points and was a flawless 7-for-7 from the floor coupled with a perfect 5-of-5 performance at the foul line. Her four blocks against Kentucky matched a season-high. Theresa Plaisance, the reigning SEC Player of the Week, notched 12.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game. She ran her streak to 12 consecutive games with 10-plus points, her longest run since a 31-game stretch last season. Jeanne Kenney secured 7.5 points and 3.5 assists per game. Off the bench, DaShawn Harden led the charge and provided 5.5 points per game. She tallied 11 of LSU’s 16 bench points during the week.  LSU welcomes Missouri to the Maravich Center [Thursday – 7 p.m. CT on Cox Sports Television] before returning to the road for the fourth consecutive Sunday when the Lady Tigers square off at No. 17 Texas A&M [Sunday – 1:30 p.m. CT on Fox Sports Network/SportSouth].
