KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. – Tam Trinh and Eric Perez picked up a doubles win to finish undefeated and lead the LSU men’s tennis team on the final day of the Key Biscayne Invitational Tuesday.
Overall, LSU finished with five wins on the final day of competition as the Tigers won two of three doubles matches and three singles matches at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park.
“We played better doubles overall today, and we picked up a few important confidence building singles wins,” said LSU head coach Jeff Brown.
Trinh and Perez, who rank as the No. 46 doubles pair nationally, defeated Michigan’s Kevin Wong and Alex Buzzi, 6-3, to finish 3-0 in the invitational. Trinh and Perez are now 6-0 overall on the year after beating Wong and Buzzi.
No. 60 junior Chris Simpson and sophomore Boris Arias beat Michigan’s Michael Zhu and Alex Petrone, 6-5. Freshman Justin Butsch and sophomore Andrew Korinek fell 6-4 to Denver’s Alex Clinkenbeard and Eric Marbach.
Sophomores Boris Arias, Harrison Kennedy and Trinh each picked up singles wins for LSU.

The Tigers begin their dual match season against Rice on Jan. 19 in Houston, Texas at the George R. Brown Tennis Complex. First serve is set for noon CT.
“Overall, this was a strong start for several of the guys, and everyone is on board and ready to prepare for our opener,” Brown said.
