Diving Wraps Up Day 2 at Georgia Invitational

ATHENS, Ga. -- Lady Tiger divers Cassie Weil and Alex Bettridge wrapped up the third and fourth spot in the final of the women’s 3-meter. Weil finished with 319.50 points and Bettridge with a season high score of 313.55. Both will move on to the Bulldog Shootout held tonight. 

For the men, Sean McKinney placed seventh with 330.30 points on the 1-meter springboard. Kevin Leong just missed the finals with a 13th place finish after a score of 279.35.

“We had another solid day highlighted by Cassie and Alex on the 3-meter,” LSU Diving Coach Doug Shaffer said. “They competed very well and earned a spot in the shootout competition. Sean fought well on the 1-meter and just narrowly missed another top six-place finish. Overall, their performances are right on track with what I want to see this time of the year.”

In the prelims of the women’s 3-meter springboard, Allie Alter collected another 30th place finish (229.35). Freshman Katie Lagarde also finished 32nd with a season high score of 218.10.

Zakary Rowton went on to finish18th with 269.40 points in the prelim of the men’s 1-meter.

Competition concludes tomorrow at 9 a.m. CT with the men’s platform. The women’s platform will begin at 1 p.m. CT.
