Men's Tennis Begins 2014 at Key Biscayne
KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. – The LSU men’s tennis team will compete in the Key Biscayne Collegiate Invitational on Sunday as one of its final preparations heading into the dual season.
LSU competes in singles against Michigan at 9 a.m. CT and will face Denver in doubles at 11:30 a.m. The tournament lasts Sunday through Tuesday and is held at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park.
“This event is one the team looks forward to for a couple of reasons,” said LSU head coach Jeff Brown. “First, you have the excitement of a new season and then the good weather to train and play in at this time of year. The guys look like they worked hard over the break, so it should turn into some good results.”
All eight players on the LSU roster will compete against players from Michigan, Texas and Denver in both singles and doubles.
No team scoring will be used, but there will be an individual champion determined by a point system. Each player will be assigned points per win according to his position in singles and doubles. In singles, a win on court one will give that player eight points. In doubles, a player on court one receives four points. The player with the most points at the end of the weekend will be named the overall winner.
