BATON ROUGE – Golfweek Magazine rated the teams in its top 25 preseason women’s golf poll and gave LSU a grade of “A” for its performance in four fall events.

LSU was voted preseason 24 by Golfweek and the Lady Tigers will enter the spring ranked at No. 22 on the season.

Of LSU’s fall season, Golfweek wrote: “Gave Schooner, Alamo titles a run. (Lady) Tigers also took home two individual medals.”

A total of 17 teams in the preseason top 30 received “A” grades for their fall play. Seven teams were graded at C or worse.

The Lady Tigers, under Coach Karen Bahnsen, finished tied for third at the Schooner and second at The Alamo Invitational. Individually, both junior Madelene Sagstrom and senior Lindsay Gahm won titles with Sagstrom winning at the Schooner with a 54-hole total of -4, while Gahm posted an amazing 11-under par to win her title at the Alamo event.

The spring women’s golf season tees off Sunday, Feb. 23, at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate at English Turn in New Orleans. The highlight of the spring will be the annual renewal of the LSU Tiger Golf Classic at the University Club in Baton Rouge, March 21-23.
