OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – LSU senior forward Theresa Plaisance is one of 30 student-athletes in women’s basketball up for the 2013-14 Senior CLASS Award, which recognizes outstanding work in community, classroom, character and competition.

Plaisance, a New Orleans native, has been a leader for the Lady Tigers both on and off the court. She is actively involved in LSU’s community service efforts including the Hunger Walk, Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank and speaking to grade school kids.

On the court, Plaisance is a 2014 National Player of the Year candidate who currently leads the Lady Tigers in scoring (13.6 ppg) and rebounding (7.8 rpg). She has helped lead LSU to a Top-15 national ranking and a 4-1 start to the season.

Plaisance was the Southeastern Conference scoring champion a year ago. For her career, she has produced 40 double-figure scoring games, 10 double-figure rebound games and nine double-doubles. She ranks fourth in LSU history with 104 blocks, while racking up 841 points and 407 rebounds.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School ®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. The award winner will be announced during the 2014 NCAA Women’s Final Four weekend.
