BATON ROUGE – LSU women’s basketball head coach Nikki Caldwell has announced the signing of 6-foot-1 forward Stephanie Amichia from North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, Ga.

Amichia is a consensus four-star prospect and one of the top prep players in the Southeast. She helped lead North Gwinnett to a Class 6A runner-up finish and a school-best 30-2 record as a junior last spring. Amichia is a physical player with size as she averaged 21.0 points and a team-best 8.3 rebounds per game last season.

During North Gwinnett’s run to the state championship game, Amichia recorded 13 double-digit rebound games, including 14 points and 17 boards in a semifinal win over North Cobb.

Amichia joins Ursuline New Orleans guard Jenna Deemer during the early signing period for LSU. The two will able to compete for the Lady Tigers beginning with the 2014-15 season.
