ATHENS, Ga. - The LSU men's tennis team was in action again on the second day of the 2013 Bulldog Scramble hosted by the University of Georgia at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.

"We followed up yesterday with more solid doubles," head coach Jeff Brown said. "Justin Butsch was the lone bright spot in singles today."

To start off the day, LSU's doubles duo of Chris Simpson and Boris Arias took down the Furman pair of Jacob Behal and Ben Horst 6-3. Soon after, LSU's Tam Trinh and Eric Perez, who upset the No. 2 doubles pair in the country yesterday, came away with a 6-3 victory over Mason Vierra/Suresh Eswaran of Vanderbilt. LSU's Andrew Korinek and Justin Butsch fell in a close match to Vanderbilt's Rhys Johnson and Ryan Smith 6-5(3).

In singles action, the Tigers faced some tough matchups. LSU's Butsch was the Tigers only singles win of the day as he took down Furman's Horst 6-1, 1-6, 6-3. No. 29 Simpson suffered a 6-4, 6-2 loss to Georgia's Garrett Brasseaux. Vanderbilt's Eswaran took down LSU's Trinh 1-6, 6-4, 6-2. Redshirt freshman Perez also suffered a loss as he fell to Furman's Juan Sheppard 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Trailing 6-3, 3-0 to Oklahoma's Nick Papac, LSU sophomore Harrison Kennedy was forced to retire due to injury. LSU's Arias fell to Vanderbilt's Kris Yee 6-3, 6-4. After a successful first day at the tournament, LSU's Korinek dropped a tightly-contested match to Oklahoma's Alex Ghilea 6-3, 6-4.

The Tigers will wrap up fall play tomorrow with the final day of the tournament.

"Tomorrow is a big match for the team because it is the last match for the fall and a final opportunity to gain some confidence," Brown said.
