"It was fantastic!” said Jason Fountain, principal at Central Middle School. “Kurt and Michael were very professional and gracious and did a great job speaking to our students. They were fun and engaging with our students and they shared excellent words on leadership.”
"Michael and I had a great time speaking to the kids,” said McCune, senior pitcher from Norco, La. “I think it's great that these schools are focusing on teaching leadership skills at a young age. We learn a lot about leadership from our coaches and it was great to share this knowledge with the students."
“The children at Central Middle School are truly blessed to have a program that dedicates its efforts to finding leadership in children,” said Barash, a sophomore catcher from Boca Raton, Fla. “They are surrounded by the right influences and have the right guidance in order to be successful."
The LSU baseball team takes an active role in philanthropic events, logging over 400 hours of community service each academic year.
“I’m very proud of our players for their commitment and desire to help others in our community,” said LSU coach Paul Mainieri. “This is a responsibility our players embrace as being a part of the LSU Baseball program.”
