BATON ROUGE -- The LSU women’s swimming and diving team (0-2 overall, 0-2 SEC) takes on Tulane Friday, at 6 p.m. in the LSU Natatorium.

The Lady Tigers are looking to come back after a tough weekend against Georgia and Arkansas. Freshman swimmer Kara Kopcso, who was named SEC Freshman Female of the Week, led the Tigers with two wins in the 200 butterfly. She was the only swimmer, male or female, to get a win for the Tigers over the weekend.

“We are excited to have Tulane come in and compete,” LSU swimming coach Dave Geyer said. “This will be another opportunity for our athletes to continue to focus on potential events for the Southeastern Conference Championships.  Last week was a challenging week of racing and it will be great to see how our women respond this week to a different challenge”

Junior Amber Carter looks to get her first win of the season after second place finishes in the 100 butterfly and 50 free over the weekend.

Senior Torrey Bussey also produced a consistent weekend with multiple third place finishes and two-second place finishes.

On the diving side Alex Bettridge and Cassie Weil look to continue their success. Bettridge won the one-meter dive and placed second in the 3-meter against Arkansas. Weil swept the three-meter dive over the weekend with a score of 332.63 against Georgia and 349.13 against Arkansas.

Redshirt freshman Izzy Choquehuanca adds depth to the lineup after a third place finish on the one-meter and fourth place finish on the three-meter against Arkansas.

“It’s always a good opportunity to compete against another team from Louisiana,” LSU diving coach Doug Shaffer said. “The relationship between our two schools has always been good. They have a new staff so we will welcome into this competitive opportunity. For the divers, we are just looking to continue to develop on the basis that we have started. We just want to see good competitive growth through this meet.”
