BATON ROUGE -- The LSU men’s and women’s basketball teams hosted the 2013 LSU Student Block Party Tuesday on Tower Drive.
“It means a lot to us to come out and see the fans, to show them that we care about them just as much as they care about us” said men’s basketball freshman Jarell Martin. “We just want to go out and put smiles on their faces so they will be excited to come out and see us during the season.”
“It’s always a great opportunity for us to come out and talk to the community and our fans,” added women’s sophomore Anne Pedersen. “It’s good being one-on-one with them and getting to know them. It’s always fun.”
Both teams also took turns shooting the ball around with fans, showing the skills they hope the LSU students will come out to see during the season.
“Fans are going to see a lot of excitement” said men’s basketball senior Andre Stringer. “If you miss it, you’re going to have your friends coming back and telling you that the team put on a show. We are going to have a lot of fun at the games.”
“First and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament will be hosted here for the third year in a row,” women’s basketball junior Sheila Boykin commented. “If fans want to see us playing here at the PMAC, they need to come out and support us because we can’t get there without them.”
On Wednesday, the all LSU students are invited to watch the final 90 minutes of the men’s team practice at the Maravich Center. Students will be admitted to the Maravich Center at the lower Southeast Corridor doors beginning at 4:30 p.m. There will be free pizza for the students attending the practice.
Season tickets for the 2013-14 Tiger and Lady Tiger seasons are available now at www.LSUtix.net. Admission to all men’s and women’s home games is free for students with a valid LSU ID.
