Men's Golf 11th Through Two Rounds at Isleworth

WINDERMERE, Fla. – Led by scores of 2-over par 74 from both junior Curtis Thompson and freshman Eric Ricard, the LSU men’s golf team wrapped up Monday’s second round at the 10th-annual Isleworth Collegiate Invitational in 11th place overall with a 36-hole score of 12-over par 588 in the event being held at Isleworth Golf & Country Club.

After opening the championship with a team round of even-par 288 on Sunday, the Tigers followed with a round of 12-over 300 on Monday to drop three spots into 11th place at 12-over 588 in 36 holes.

Ricard was the top Tiger for the second-straight day as he matched Thompson’s effort with a team-low 2-over 74 to finish Monday’s action in a tie for 27th place on the leaderboard at 1-over par 145 through two rounds of the tournament. A native of Shreveport, La., Ricard broke par on Sunday with a 1-under 71 in his debut round as a member of LSU’s five-man lineup.

Thompson, who opened with an even-par 72 in the first round, ended the second round in a tie for 34th place after posting a 2-over 74 for a 36-hole score of 2-over par 146.

Rounding out the team scoring for the Tigers on Monday afternoon were senior Andrew Presley and junior Stewart Jolly with matching rounds of 4-over 76 as the Tigers posted a team total of 12-over 300 in the round. Jolly ended the day in a tie for 43rd place at 4-over par 148, while Presley followed in a tie for 59th place at 8-over par 152 on the leaderboard.

In addition, junior Myles Lewis followed a 1-over 73 in the first round with a 5-over 77 in the second round for a 36-hole score of 6-over par 150 to tie for 51st place overall heading into Tuesday’s final round.

The No. 1-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide pushed their lead to 11 shots after firing a team score of 16-under 272 in the second round for a two-round total of 24-under 552. Tournament co-host Central Florida ended the day in second place at 13-under 563, including a 7-under 281 in the second round, followed by California in third place at 6-under 570, Illinois in fourth place at 3-under 573 and UNLV in fifth place at 2-under 574.

The Crimson Tide are poised to sweep team and individual titles at this year’s Isleworth Collegiate Invitational as teammates Trey Mullinax and Bobby Wyatt hold down the top two spots on the leaderboard. Mullinax is the second-round leader with a 36-hole score of 10-under 134, while Wyatt trails in second place by two shots at 8-under 136.

Central Florida’s Greg Eason is just three shots off the pace with his two-day total of 7-under 137, followed by six players in a tie for fourth place on the leaderboard at 4-under 140.

The Tigers are paired with Texas and Georgia Regents-Augusta in Tuesday’s final round as they will tee off from the back nine beginning at 7:25 a.m. CT.
