TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Tigers pair of Chris Simpson and Boris Arias continued their strong showing and advanced to the doubles finals on the fourth day of the ITA Southern Regional hosted by the University of Alabama at the UA Varsity Courts in Tuscaloosa, Ala., as they advance to the semifinals.
“The guys did a good job of getting off to a fast start today unlike a few of their previous matches,” assistant coach Danny Bryan said. “We are looking forward to the finals tomorrow.”
The LSU duo faced a tough matchup against Dan Cochrane and Joseph Van Dooren of Auburn. The Tigers jumped out to an early lead and kept it that way throughout the match. Auburn kept the match close, but Simpson and Arias eventually came away with an 8-6 victory.
They will take on William Kallberg and Stefan Lindmark of Ole Miss tomorrow in the doubles finals at 11 a.m. CT.
Kallberg and Lindmark took down the Auburn duo of Dennis Lengsfeld and Lukas Ollert 8-7(5) in a hard-fought match this morning.
