NORMAN, Okla. – The LSU women’s golf team takes part in its second tournament of the fall when it tees off Saturday in the inaugural “Schooner Fall Classic benefitting the Toby Keith Foundation.”

The tournament will be played at the BelMar Golf Club and is hosted by the University of Oklahoma. The course will play to a rare for women’s golf par 70 with the final nine holes playing to par 34 with just one par 5 and three par 3s coming home.

LSU and host Oklahoma will be joined by: SMU, Pepperdine, Kentucky, Florida State, Denver, Texas State, Arizona State, Texas A&M, Georgia, Texas Tech, TCU, Oklahoma State and Kent State.

The Lady Tigers are coming off an 11th place finish in the opening tournament of the year, the Cougar Classic, a 20-team event, last month. Freshman Caroline Nistrup of Denmark, had the best score for the team, shooting a 1-over 217 for the 54-hole event with rounds of 73-72-72. Last year’s All-SEC selection, Madelene Sagstrom of Sweden, finished at 4-over par 220 (75-71-74).

Nistrup and Sagstrom will be in the lineup again for this event along with Elise Bradley, Ali Lucas and sophomore Nadine Dreher of Austria, who will be making her season debut. Lucas, one of two seniors on the team, had her best LSU showing in the Cougar Classic at 5-over 221 (71-73-77).

Saturday will mark the first of six scheduled rounds in the next nine days for the LSU women’s golf team as they play in the Schooner through Monday, return to Baton Rouge, and leave Wednesday for the Lady Tar Heel in Chapel Hill, N.C., that begins next Friday and runs through Oct. 13.
