TULSA, Okla. – The LSU men’s tennis team travels to Tulsa, Okla., for the 2013 ITA All-American Championships this weekend. For the ninth straight year, the University of Tulsa’s Michael D. Case Tennis Center will host the ITA Men’s All-American Championship.
Pre-qualifying matches are set to begin on Sept. 28 with qualifying matches following on Sept. 30. A field of 64 singles players and 32 doubles teams will then compete in the main draw on Oct. 3.
Singles quarterfinalists, doubles finalists and consolation champions will receive an automatic entry into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships on Nov. 7-10, held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, NY.
The entire men’s tennis roster will be competing this weekend including junior Chris Simpson who has been selected into the main draw.
“We are looking to follow through on last week’s overall good performance with some strong results here,” head coach Jeff Brown said. “It is an opportunity for someone to step up and have a break out tournament.”
Simpson is coming off a singles semifinal appearance this past weekend at the SEC Fall Classic in Nashville, Tenn. Simpson also made it to the quarterfinals of the doubles draw with partner Boris Arias. Sophomore Andrew Korinek advanced to the third round of the singles consolation draw.
