Gymnastics Celebrates 2013 Season at Reception
BATON ROUGE – The LSU gymnastics team gathered at the annual reception Friday night in the LSU Union Cotillion Ballroom to honor the accomplishments from the 2013 season.
Breaux was joined by associate head coach Jay Clark, assistant coach Bob Moore and volunteer assistant coach Ashleigh Clare-Kearney to honor the Tigers for all the academic and athletic achievements accumulated in the 2013 season.
LSU reached the NCAA Super Six for the third time in the last six seasons, earned 10 All-America honors, six All-SEC honors, six NACGC/W Scholastic All-America awards and 11 SEC Academic Honor Roll selections.
Senior Lainie Fleming was presented the prestigious Wally Pontiff Jr. Academic Excellence Award which goes to the LSU student-athlete who has performed exceptionally well in the classroom. Fleming enters her senior season with a 3.933 cumulative grade point average in microbiology.
Junior Rheagan Courville was honored for winning the NCAA vault national title, claiming the SEC vault, beam and all-around titles, being named 2013 SEC Gymnast of the Year, and for earning a perfect 10.0 on vault during the season.
Junior Lloimincia Hall and sophomore Jessica Savona were honored for sharing the SEC floor title and claiming All-SEC recognition, and Hall was also honored for scoring two perfect 10.0’s on floor in 2013.
Senior Sarie Morrison was recognized for her perfect 10.0 on vault against Arkansas as well as for earning All-America honors on vault and bars.
Breaux presented the Most Improved Award to Taylor, who set career highs on vault and beam when she was inserted into the lineups late in the 2013 season. She ended her collegiate career by scoring a 9.925 on beam at the SEC Championship and a team-best 9.90 on beam at the NCAA Super Six.
Moore presented the Dee Dee Fulmer Gilbert Coaches Award to Jessie Jordan. The award is given annually to the gymnast who consistently demonstrates a strong commitment to academic and athletic excellence. The award is named after the late Dee Dee Fulmer Gilbert who was an advocate for women’s sports at LSU and a caring supporter of the LSU gymnastics program for many years until she passed away in 1999.
LSU resumes fall practice Saturday as the Tigers begin preparations for the 2014 season.

LSU will open the 2014 season on Jan. 10 when the Tigers host Centenary in the Maravich Center.
