BATON ROUGE – For the second-straight season, All-SEC and All-America performer Curtis Thompson has been named among Golf World’s Top 50 collegiate players in the country with the release of the magazine’s “Players to Watch” on Thursday afternoon ahead of the start of the 2013-14 season for the Tigers next weekend.

Thompson is coming off a sophomore season in 2012-13 in which he was named a First-Team All-SEC performer and a Golfweek Honorable Mention All-America selection for his efforts.

Also a PING All-Southeast Region performer for the second year in a row, Thompson was the team’s top scorer a year ago when he posted a career-low scoring average of 72.9 strokes per round while competing in all 13 tournaments for the Tigers in 2012-13. He earned two top-five and five top-10 finishes in his 13 tournament starts during his sophomore season.

In addition, Thompson wrapped up the 2012-13 campaign as the No. 49-ranked collegiate player nationally by Golfweek while earning his first career All-America selection.
