BATON ROUGE – LSU softball’s media guide has received the nation’s best cover award as announced Friday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) in the organization’s yearly contest.
It marks the second consecutive year that the softball guide has received a No. 1 ranking, the 2012 guide garnered best in the nation status. The guide serves as a complete source of LSU softball information, including player and coach bios, statistics, notes, records and a summary of the program's storied history.
The 116-page media was written and edited by Associate Sports Information Director Matt Dunaway with editorial assistance from student assistants SIDs Taylor Brown and Palmer Black. Covers were designed by Graphic Design Coordinator Hannah Brinks, while photography was provided under the direction of Steve Franz, Chris Parent and Hilary Scheinuk.
The LSU Sports Information Department received during the 2012-13 season a total of nine CoSIDA publications awards, the most of any school in the country.

LSU finished its second season under head coach Beth Torina with the program’s 15th 40-win season since softball was reinstated in 1997. The Tigers are slated to return 16 letterwinners sparked by A.J. Andrews, an NFCA All-America Third-Team and All-SEC First-Team selection, along with Bianka Bell and Jacee Blades, a pair of 2013 All-SEC Second-Team picks.
