YORK, England – LSU sophomore golfer Nadine Dreher and her fellow golfers from Austria advanced through a semifinal match to get to Saturday’s championship round of the European ladies’ Amateur Team Championship at the Fulford Country Club.

Dreher’s team defeated Finland, 5.5-1.5, to advance to the final match against Spain, a 4.5-2.5 winner over England.

Dreher lost her singles match in the two foursomes-five singles format of the championship flight, 3&2, to the co-top individual medalist, Oona Vartiainen. But Austria got 2.5 points in the final three matches to easily clinch advancement.

In the consolation bracket, two LSU golfers met head to head as Denmark scored a 3-2 win over Sweden. Freshman-to-be at LSU, Caroline Nistrup of Denmark scored a 3&2 win over LSU junior Madelene Sagstrom in last match to go out in the round. Denmark advances to a fifth place match on Saturday against France while Sweden will face the Netherlands in the match for seventh place.
