BATON ROUGE – Three members of the LSU Women’s Golf Team will represent their countries beginning Tuesday when the European Ladies Amateur Team Championship begins play at the Fulford Golf Club in located in the village of York in North Yorkshire, England.
Junior Madelene Sagstrom will represent her home country of Sweden, while sophomore Nadine Dreher will represent Austria. Incoming freshman Caroline Nistrup will be trying to help the team from Denmark.
A total of 20 countries from Europe will take part in the event which begins with two days of stroke play. Each team will count five-of-six scores during the two rounds of qualifying. The top eight teams will continue on to the quarterfinals where they will play in a match-play format to determine the champion. The remaining 12 teams will be divided into a second and third flight to determine their final positioning in the team standings.
Sagstrom and Dreher led the Tigers to the NCAA regional round in 2012-13 and Sagstrom as a freshman in 2012 was a member of the LSU team that finished in third place in the NCAA Championships.
