BATON ROUGE – The LSU gymnastics team was recognized and honored by the Louisiana State Senate and the House of Representatives with resolutions Thursday at the Louisiana State Capitol.
The resolutions were issued to honor the team for earning a berth in the NCAA Super Six for the third time in the last six seasons as well as recording a fifth-place finish in the national title meet, the second-best finish in school history.
Senator Sharon Broome authored a resolution that was presented to the coaches and team by the area senatorial delegation who were joined by fellow senators during the presentation. President of the Senate, John Alario, and Speaker of the House Chuck Kleckley welcomed the group to their chambers and extended their personal congratulations.
Rep. Hunter Greene filed a resolution in the house, and it was presented by Greene and the area legislative delegation to recognize the team for their accomplishments.
Courville was also recognized for winning a share of the NCAA vault national title on the final day of the NCAA Championships.
“It is an honor for the kids to be recognized for all their accomplishments by the senators and representatives who work so hard to help LSU and the state,” Breaux said. “It is also great for them to interact with our kids who represent the total package of what it means to be a student-athlete.”
