OXFORD, Miss. – The LSU women’s tennis team (8-8; 1-5 SEC) will take on No. 36 Ole Miss (4-8; 2-4 SEC) Friday at 3 p.m. CT at Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
“Ole Miss is a very good team,” head coach Julia S. Sell said. “Their ranking right now does not represent their talent level. We ended last weekend with a solid win, and I want the team to carry that momentum with us into this weekend.”
In the team’s last competition, LSU notched its first conference win of the season with a 6-1 victory over the University of Missouri Sunday. Senior Kaitlin Burns defeated Mizzou’s No. 114 Cierra Gaytan-Leach in the top spot with a quick 6-0, 6-1 win and earned the first singles point of the day. The duo of Ebie Wilson and Keri Frankenberger also took on the Mizzou Tigers’ No. 68-ranked pair of Rachel Stuhlmann and Maria Christensen on court two and earned LSU the doubles point with an 8-6 victory.
The No. 54 Lady Tigers hold a 15-24 overall record against the Ole Miss Rebels.
