BATON ROUGE – The No. 48 LSU men’s tennis team (6-7, 1-4 SEC) is set to host No. 7 Ole Miss (11-4, 4-2 SEC) this Friday, March 22 at 3 p.m. CT at the Dub in Baton Rouge.
The Tigers are coming off a 1-1 weekend in which they earned a dramatic first conference win of the season over then-No. 11 Texas A&M (13-7, 4-2 SEC) on March 15 in College Station, Texas, along with a tough 5-2 loss to then-No. 40 Michigan (6-6) on March 17 in Baton Rouge.
“Ole Miss is a very good team and they’re having a good year, so we’re going to have to match that level of intensity and come ready to play,” head coach Jeff Brown said. “As long as we’re taking care of ourselves and we’re dialed in, we can play with anyone.”
The Rebels come into Baton Rouge after suffering two straight losses to No. 4 Kentucky (16-4, 4-1 SEC) this past Friday, and to No. 13 Vanderbilt (13-4, 4-1 SEC) this past Sunday. Ole Miss was riding an eight-match win streak before losing two straight.
LSU has dominated their all-time matches with Ole Miss, sporting a 44-17 record against the Rebels. The two teams met last year in Oxford, Miss., where the Rebels picked up a 5-2 win over the Tigers.
Admission to the match is free.
