Gymnastics Earns Berth in SEC Evening Session

BATON ROUGE - The sixth-ranked LSU gymnastics team earned the No. 4 seed and will compete in session II at the SEC Championship on Saturday, the league office announced Monday.

Session II will feature No. 1 seed Florida, No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Georgia and LSU, and it will start at 6 p.m. CT inside Verizon Arena in North Little Rock, Ark.

Fifth-seeded Auburn, No. 6 Arkansas, No. 7 Kentucky and No. 8 seed Missouri will compete in Session I at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The SEC champion will be determined by the team with the highest score regardless of session.

As the No. 4 seed, LSU will open the meet on floor exercise and rotate to vault, bars and beam to end the competition. Florida will start on vault, Alabama on bars and Georgia on beam.

SEC Championship seeding was determined by regional qualifying score (RQS) rankings released Monday by GymInfo.

LSU is ranked No. 6 in the national top 25 with a 197.065 RQS after scoring a 196.925 at North Carolina State last week. Florida jumped Oklahoma for No. 1 with a 197.700 RQS, followed by the Sooners at No. 2 (197.570), Alabama at No. 3 (197.260), Michigan at No. 4 (197.175) and Georgia at No. 5 (197.160).

In the event rankings, LSU remained No. 1 on vault with a 49.470 RQS, tying with Florida for the top spot. The Tigers ranked No. 4 on floor with a 49.410 RQS, No. 8 on bars at 49.260 and No. 15 on beam at 49.070.

The national leader in all-around titles this season with eight, Rheagan Courville is ranked No. 6 in the all-around with a 39.530 RQS, No. 5 on vault at 9.930, No. 25 on bars at 9.875, No. 21 on beam at 9.875 and No. 16 on floor at 9.90.

Lloimincia Hall is ranked No. 2 on floor with a 9.940 RQS, and Sarie Morrison is No. 6 on bars with a 9.910 RQS. Randi Lau checked in to the vault standings at No. 22 with a 9.90 RQS.
