BATON ROUGE -- The LSU women's tennis team (7-4) will face the No. 53 University of Kentucky (8-3) Sunday at the W.T. "Dub" Robinson Stadium at noon CT.
"I'm excited for another great opponent to challenge us tomorrow," head coach Julia S. Sell said. "I was very proud of the way we competed Friday and expect to see that same intensity tomorrow."
The Lady Tigers opened SEC play against Vanderbilt Friday and marked a tough 7-0 loss. LSU faced multiple ranked players, as senior Kaitlin Burns battled No. 60 Lauren Mira into the third set of competition on court one, and junior Ariel Morton faced ranked opponents in both doubles and singles. Before she challenged No. 64 Georgina Sellyn on court four, Morton took on the No. 29-ranked duo of the Commodores' Mira and Courtney Colton with doubles partner Mary Jeremiah in the top spot, but the match was unfinished after Vanderbilt clinched the doubles point on courts two and three.
LSU holds a tied 17-17 overall record against the Wildcats.
