BATON ROUGE - The LSU men's tennis team (5-2) has been ranked No. 39 in the latest ITA poll. Last week, the Tigers' home match against No. 58 Texas Tech (6-3) was rained out and postponed for a later date.

Later in the week, the Tigers were on the road in Columbus, Ohio, for a double-header against No. 7 Ohio State (12-2) and Wright State (6-6). The Tigers dropped the first match to Ohio State 7-0 but finished off the day with a 6-1 victory over Wright State.

The Virginia (6-0) remains atop the ITA rankings for the seventh straight week since the season started.

The SEC dominates the polls again with seven teams in the Top 25, four of which are in the Top 10. All 11 of LSU's SEC opponents this season are ranked in the Top 50.

Kentucky (12-2) is ranked No. 6 in the nation, followed closely by Tennessee (12-3) at No. 8. Georgia (7-3) is No. 9, followed by Mississippi State (10-2) at No. 10, and Texas A&M (8-4) at No. 11. Coming in at No. 13 is Ole Miss (5-2) with Vanderbilt (9-3) ranked No. 25. The remaining SEC teams ranked in the Top 50 are Alabama (9-3) at No. 31, Auburn (8-2) at No. 32, Florida (6-4) at No. 35, and South Carolina (9-4) at No. 43.

LSU's only remaining non-SEC opponent ranked in the Top 75 is Michigan (4-3) at No. 21.

So far this season, the Tigers have defeated two ranked opponents: No. 68 Indiana (6-6) and No. 75 South Florida (4-3).

The Tigers' duo of Chris Simpson and Stefan Szacinski are ranked No. 41 in the latest doubles poll with a 3-2 record for dual-matches this season.

LSU starts conference play this Friday, March 2 at 2 p.m. CT in Nashville, Tenn., against the No. 25 Vanderbilt Commodores. Vanderbilt is currently riding a four-match win streak and has won eight of their last nine matches.
