BATON ROUGE, La. - The LSU women's tennis team (7-3) swept both Nicholls State University (5-3) and Grambling State University (1-5) 7-0 during Saturday's double header at W.T. "Dub" Robinson Stadium.

"They're making adjustments," head coach Julia S. Sell said. "That's what it's been from day one for us, to adjust and keep focusing on getting better every match, instead of worrying about winning and losing. Our goals right now are just to keep improving and to play our best at the end of the season. They did that today."

In an almost perfect shutout victory against the Grambling State Tigers, LSU posted two straight 8-0 doubles wins on the top two courts and 6-0, 6-0 singles triumphs on all but one court, as freshman Caroline Hudson tallied a 6-1, 6-0 win on court five over Grambling's Alicia Shaw.

The doubles pair of Ebie Wilson and Keri Frankenberger set the pace for both of the day's matches, finishing first with an 8-0 score against both Nicholls' Natalia Cardiff and Eva Castiglioni and Grambling's Georgina Stephenson and Shaw. Ariel Morton and Mary Jeremiah then clinched the doubles point twice, as the duo tallied 8-0 wins against both the Colonels' Emma Pitre and Rachel Howie and Grambling's Oluwatomisin Kassim and Tabitha Nankya.

Ella Taylor's victory over Grambling's Joy Jones on court three marked her 15th career win, as well as her second double bagel win of the day and third of the season, as the freshman also took a 6-0, 6-0 win against Nicholls' Howie during the opening match of the double header.

Senior Frankenberger made her season debut in singles against Grambling on court six and, with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Nankya, clinched the match for the Lady Tigers.

The top spot was highlighted by Kaitlin Burns, who marked a 7-5, 6-1 win over the Colonels' Cardiff and a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Grambling's Stephenson that earned the senior her 60th career win.

"(The players are) really starting to come together more as a team," Sell said. "They're working together better, and they're trusting each other better. I think the captains are taking the reins a little bit now,  and they're motivating everyone a little better and guiding them down this pathway we're about to be on with the SEC season."

The Lady Tigers will open SEC play in their next outing, as LSU hosts No. 17 Vanderbilt University Friday at W.T. "Dub" Robinson Stadium at 3 p.m. CT.
