BATON ROUGE, La. - LSU Swimming and Diving seniors Timmy Dasinger and Kaelee Mader were named to the 2012-13 Southeastern Conference Community Service Teams for their efforts in the local Baton Rouge community, as announced by the conference office on Thursday.
"It is an honor to have two of our seniors recognized for their commitment outside of the pool," Swimming Coach Dave Geyer said. "Community service is very important to both of these young adults in their recognition of giving back to those that show so much support and passion to our program and department."
Dasinger, a member of the 2011-12 SEC Men's Community Service Team, is a finalist for the prestigious Brad Davis Community Service Postgrad Scholarship. Dasinger is currently serving as the Interim President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and has been a Swimming and Diving representative for two seasons.
Dasinger's contributions in the community include spending time with local elementary students, volunteering in local hospitals and various projects around campus.
Mader was named to the SEC Women's Community Service Team for the first time in her career. The Houston, Texas native is also a three-time member of the SEC Honor Roll and is in her second year serving as a Swimming and Diving representative with SAAC.
Mader's volunteering efforts include the BCS Champions through Service Project at the New Orleans Boys and Girls Club, local hospital visits and various projects around campus.
Both athletes will next compete with the entire LSU Swimming and Diving squad at the Southeastern Conference Championships in College Station, Texas beginning on Feb. 19.
