BATON ROUGE - Legendary LSU and NBA star Bob Petit will be the guest speaker Tuesday at the February LSU Basketball "Tipoff Luncheon Presented by Hub International" at the L'Auberge Resort in Baton Rouge.
The luncheon as always will feature LSU men's basketball coach Johnny Jones, who has the Tigers riding a two-game SEC win streak and a 12-7 overall record going into Wednesday night's home game with Vanderbilt at 7 p.m. at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
Pettit, a member of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, will be making a rare speaking appearance at Tuesday's luncheon as LSU prepares to honor the 60th anniversary of the 1953 team that went to what is now known as the NCAA Final Four. That team will be honored officially at halftime prior to the Mississippi State game on Feb. 16.
The event is scheduled at the L'Auberge Resort off Nicholson Drive in Baton Rouge at the Bon Temps Buffet. The Buffet is available at 11:30 a.m. and the program begins at 12:10 p.m. The all-you-can-eat buffet charge is $13.95 a person. The buffet is located on the ground floor of the resort in the casino area.
To get to the L'Auberge resort from the LSU area, follow LA-30 N./Nicholson Drive. Turn Left onto L'Auberge Crossing Drive and follow the signs to L'Auberge Baton Rouge.
