BATON ROUGE - The LSU men's tennis team checked in at No. 24 in the preseason rankings released Thursday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

The Tigers wrapped up last season as the nation's 25th-ranked team, and after a successful fall LSU will open the 2013 dual season one spot higher.

LSU returns five letterwinners from last year's squad, including four seniors in Roger Anderson, Olivier Borsos, Mark Bowtell and Stefan Szacinski as well as sophomore Chris Simpson.

Simpson and Szacinski were listed as the No. 33 doubles pair in the nation after the duo compiled a 4-1 record in the fall, including a 3-0 mark en route to winning the doubles title at the Conference Challenge hosted by Texas A&M in October.

In the Southern region rankings, Simpson and Szacinski ranked No. 4 while fellow Tigers Roger Anderson and Tam Trinh checked in as the 10th-ranked doubles pair.

Simpson earned the No. 11 ranking in the Southern region singles standings.

LSU will take part in the Key Biscayne Collegiate Invitational Sunday through Tuesday and will officially open the dual season on Jan. 21 in a 1 p.m. CT tilt against Southern Miss at Dub Robinson Stadium.
