AUBURN, Ala. -- LSU junior diver Sean McKinney set an LSU all-time record on the three-meter springboard with a score of 415.50 in a first place finish during day two of the Auburn Diving Invitational.

McKinney becomes LSU's first diver to break the 400-point barrier on the three-meter.

"Sean is a fierce competitor and believed in the progress and changes that we made," Diving Coach Doug Shaffer said. "He put it all together in one list. Diving has a lot of volatility. Our sport is about consistency in every different group with six dives representing a piece of a puzzle. Every single one of his dives was at a higher level then he had done before. He put it all together from start to finish."

The LSU Diving squad took first in both the women's one-meter and the men's three-meter, giving the team individual victories in three out of the four events thus far.

Freshman diver Cassie Weil completed the springboard event sweep with a first place finish on the one-meter with a score of 283.55 after winning yesterday's three-meter event with a score of 329.30.

Senior Daniel Helm ended his three-meter run in third with a score of 356.40. Helm placed fourth on the one-meter in yesterday's event.

Junior Kevin Leong came in seventh on the three-meter with a total of 299.05.

On the women's one-meter, sophomore Alex Bettridge notched a fifth place finish with a score of 264.20.

Senior Elle Schmidt placed in ninth with a score of 243.30 and freshman Allie Alter placed in 11th with a score of 230.95.

"Having Cassie in there to sweep the events today was big," Shaffer said. "I am proud of the divers. We competed well. It really could have been any one of them today. It could have been Alex on the one-meter or Daniel on three-meter. They all have the capabilities."

The LSU Diving team is competing in a quad meet against host Auburn, Alabama and Georgia Tech. The teams annually hold this competition at the conclusion of finals and right before the holidays. The meet will conclude on Wednesday with the men and women's platform event.

The platform event will begin tomorrow at 11 a.m. (CT). Please visit Divemeets.com for live results.
