BATON ROUGE - The LSU women's golf team signed its first recruit of the early signing period on Wednesday with the addition of Carly Ray Goldstein of Coral Springs, Fla.
Goldstein will join the Lady Tigers for the 2013-14 season after finishing her final season at Coral Glades High School.
Goldstein earlier this year captured the 2012 Class 2A Girls High School State Championship in the state of Florida and had a strong third place showing in the 2012 Doral/Publix Junior Golf Classic. She also tied for 2nd at the 2012 Optimist International Junior Golf Championships.
The Floridian has been playing tournament golf since she was eight and has won some 96 tournaments in her career. Among her many tournaments she has won is the Future Collegians World Tour Under 14 National Championship and as a 14-year-old she reached the quarterfinals of the prestigious Doherty Cup, where she was the youngest player in the 77-year-history of that event to reach match play.
"We are very pleased to have Carly join our team," said LSU Head Coach Karen Bahnsen. "As the Top player from the state of Florida and with her tremendous tournament record I know she will be a great addition and will help our team compete for Championships in the coming years."
