BATON ROUGE - Two Louisiana National Guard units that recently returned from action overseas will be honored at halftime of the LSU vs. Idaho football game in Tiger Stadium on Saturday night.

Members of the Louisiana National Guard's 415th Military Intelligence Battalion and 239th Military Police Company headquartered in Carville will attend the game courtesy of the Tiger Athletic Foundation and will assemble on the field at halftime after the performance of the Tiger Marching Band.

The soldiers recently returned from combat operations overseas in support of Operation New Dawn Iraq and Operation Enduring Freedom Afghanistan, and have recently been conducting operations in support of Hurricane Isaac recovery efforts.

The 415th Military Intelligence Battalion was presented the meritorious unit commendation by the secretary of the Army, the Honorable John M. McHugh, for their exceptional service in support of military operations during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

In addition, the Louisiana National Guard will present to LSU the Bronze Minuteman Award during halftime ceremonies.  The Bronze Minuteman Award is granted to civilians and civilian organizations in recognition and appreciation for their service to the state of Louisiana, their communities and for their outstanding support of the citizen soldiers of the Louisiana National Guard.

The award will be accepted on LSU's behalf by Interim President/Chancellor Dr. William Jenkins and Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Joe Alleva.
