Soccer to Hold Free Youth Clinic on Aug. 17
BATON ROUGE - In one week, members of the LSU Soccer program invite all youth players in and around the Baton Rouge area to take part in a free "Friday Nights Under the Lights" clinic to help kick off the 2012 season as the event will run from 6-7:30 p.m. CT on Friday, Aug. 17, at the LSU Soccer Stadium.
The free clinic is open to boys and girls of all skill levels from pre-school through the eighth grade. Those attending are asked to bring their own soccer ball, shin guards and water bottle.
Kids will have the opportunity to meet the one and only Mike The Tiger as Mike will make an appearance at the LSU Soccer Stadium as a featured attraction of the event. Mike will sign autographs and take pictures with those in attendance from 7-7:30 p.m.
In order to register for the free clinic, parents are asked to email Emily Zering of the LSU Marketing & Promotions Department at firstname.lastname@example.org or by logging on to the official website of Tiger Soccer Camp at www.tigersoccercamp.com.
The clinic will be held just three days before the LSU Tigers kick off their 2012 season in "Monday Night Futbol" with a trip to Norman, Okla., on Aug. 20 to take on the Oklahoma Sooners. The LSU Soccer team enters the campaign as the defending SEC Western Division champion and the runner-up in the final SEC standings in 2011. The Tigers have won the SEC West title in four of the last five seasons.
